RDT and snoring

Postby karen » Wed Nov 29, 2006 7:22 am

Yesterday Elise and I swapped a Raindrop session. We did not do the 'full monty'. That is to say we put all the oils on and did mostly feathering and on the feet we did not do the vita flex as shown (since we seem to stumble a bit there) but we did stimulate along the spinal reflex along the feet three times with each oil. It was delightful and we used your idea Susaidh. I did it in her bedroom firstly with feet sticking out the end of the duvet and she did it in my room so we had the benefit of the oils all night. It was fantastic, however I have (or rather Richard has) noticed that I (rather embarrassingly) snore VERY loudly afterwards and apparently do not stop with all his promptings!!!!!! I had to take myself downstairs to sleep since he could not sleep with my snoring. Has anyone any ideas about this. I have snored in the past when I am so exhausted I can hardly stand and I do go into the deepest of sleep, which I think happened after the raindrop, but now that I have told the world about my snoring is there anyone out there with any ideas. I did put some lavender in my nostrils because this has worked in the past but it did not do anything this time.
In anticipation

I wish I'd had a magic solution to snoring [Gordon does, well he says ,that I do...therefore sleep in seperate beds to enable us to get a good nights sleep, not ideal I know, but seemed best way, when he had to get up at 1am to start work at 3am]...anyway, back to you...
Have you tried RC?...Around neck/chest area and perhaps some Grounding onto feet [putting Grounding onto Gordon's back/chest has had stopped him snoring before, but that maybe a trail and error...].
Difusing RC in the bedroom perhpas 'll help also.
It may have been that you just needed the deep sleep [been overtired before RDT...?], so perhaps you could give the same thing a try ,when you're not so tired and see, if you're still snoring.
RDT does give a much deeper sleep, I think ,anyway.

Do let 'us' know, please how you're getting on....

Thanks for the ideas Susan. Those of us who sleep through earthquakes are unlikely to be kept awake by a snorer, but I know how frustrating it must be for those who are kept awake. Snoring did happen once before when I had another raindrop. I think the deeper sleep is the cause, however I will try some RC. Do not have Grounding. Maybe one of my next purchases.

My husband has snoring problems also. Like you, it?s worse when he is really tired. I?ve notice that it gets worse toward the end of the week and after getting an extra couple of hours of sleep during the weekend, it gets better. I?ve tried RC/Peppermint, for opening the sinuses, which sometimes works. However it must be diffused with a timer attached. Often this doesn?t work and Peace and Calming will work. Also works best with diffusing. Never know which oils to use, I have found that running a humidifier EVERY NIGHT works best for us. :D

Thanks for the help Janie. Lots of ideas to explore - perhaps not to have a Raindrop at bedtime might also help.

Everybody is different and reacts differently to certain oils, sometimes it's just a trail and error....
Those , who've been in the RDT class ,hadn't heard from any of them of snoring problems...
Have you tried doing chi gong[ I think, that I spelled that right] after the RDT?
It's very relaxing....it helped someone in the RDT class sleep all night 1.x in years.

I'll ask around ,if anyone had snoring problems after RDT [and perhaps not said]
Did using RC help?

That's quite possible Susan. Ladies don't really want people to know they snore!!!! I think it is a delicate subject with women, however you all know my bad habits now!

Elise and I hope to do another swap on the weekend so I will try something from the suggestions.

I'd been asking around, no mention has been made of snoring after getting RDT, but as you say it could just be that it hasn't been mentioned ,perhaps.

Oe thing, that was said, was that snoring,if not a physical problem, is emotional release....
Which made me think ,that you perhaps could try puttting RC on your throat, but Joy onto your temples, heart and pulsepoints.....

Good luck on the weekend with your RDT and enjoy!

THE FOLLOWING WAS SHARED WITH ME AND I THOUGHT OTHERS MAY BE INTERESTED. HOPE YOU SNORING IS RESOLVED KAREN......... IF NOT PERHAPS THERE ARE SOME EXPERIENCES THAT MAY HELP.

SNORING

For snoring, dilute THYME essential oil in an equal amount of vegetable oil. (Use 1 drop thyme to one drop pure vegetable oil, such as coconut, avocado, almond, or grapeseed.) Apply several drops of blend to the bottoms of each foot before bed.
Essential Oils Desk Reference

At the time you apply Thyme, try Cypress over the throat as well.
It has also helped with snoring, along with congestion. It moves the blood and lymph, and fluid from where it doesn't belong.

My husband Shane has the most horrific problem of snoring which I am sure a lot of married ladies have with their husbands. However his is so horrible
that he can wake someone up in another room in a hotel with his. It is just
awful. Over the past 13 years of marriage I have researched and more. I
even used Thyme. Nothing worked. I noticed when he snored it sounded like
his throat was closing. I had read about people who had a soft palate would
have the roof of their mouth inserted with three stiff strips of plastic to
stop the snoring. Not an option. One night while I was NOT sleeping I was
trying to think "what could keep his throat open?" Mother of invention (or
sleep depravation) opened my eyes. RC!!!! My husband rubs it on his throat every night and so far (for this past Summer) no snoring and he says he has never slept so well. (Me either!) Thanks Young Living!

One of my customers told me she has applied Idaho Balsam Fir on her husband just under his nose. Seemed to clear up the snoring issue. I have heard Thyme oil is supportive as well.

Yes, I have had a couple of different experiences with people using oils for
snoring. Several people have had excellent results with using Thyme on the
feet just as the EDR suggests. However, I had a couple of people that this
did not work at all. I had heard somewhere that using Cypress on the neck
over the throat before bed helped and two people that I suggested this to
said it worked the first time.

I had a problem snoring recently because of my pregnancy (swelling of mucous membranes). What helped me was putting a drop of ravensara on each end of a q-tip then swabbing the inside of each nostril, before going to bed. I tried Raven once and it was uncomfortable, just to forewarn! Hoping to Help,

My husband used Eucalyptus Globulus, he applied one drop rubbed on directly under his nose just before going to sleep, right on top of his moustache. Stopped the snoring immediately! If he forgot one night, the sound of alocomotive was back, full speed! I have also suggested this to a couple of friends who have found similar success. It's been 3 years now.

I have found that Lemon Oil rubbed onto my husband's feet before bed works extremely well for his snoring. For him, it has also gotten rid of sleep
apnea. It all returns in time, depending how well we are using RDT's and
other oils on him, but, we have seen it gone for weeks at a time without
using oils nightly. I have some new people who are experiencing the same
results with the Lemon Oil also.

I put a drop of peppermint in an 8 oz. glass of water every night for my
husband. Mark drinks a couple of swallows of this peppermint water just
before bed time. Occasionally, I forget to do this and those are the nights
he snores like a bear.

We had gone to an ENT specialist who wanted to do all kinds of yucky cutting
procedures that wouldn't be covered by insurance and "may or may not work." Thank goodness the insurance didn't cover it and we opted not to go cutting up my husband's nose and throat! While in Utah for the convention in 2003 we made it a point to visit the YL Clinic. They told us snoring can indicate a clogged liver. My husband did the colon/liver cleanse products and his extremely loud snoring went down to barely a whisper in a couple of months. We also use a little Peace & Calming and/or Thyme between the toes, and we both get some badly needed sleep! Any time he starts getting loud again we know it's time to do some diet corrections, some cleansing and oiling, andwe're good to go again. Thanks YL for these magnificent products. Leslie

You were right on - the oil that I've found that works best for snoring is
RC, with a little dab rubbed just under the nose. I've also had friends use Melrose, the same way, with good results. I've also had friends, over the
years, who have diffused RC or Melrose, during the night. What they did was
go to a hardware store and buy a timer, so that the oil would diffuse about
10 minutes every hour. Some people swear that this is the best way to
handle it... If it were me, I'd add putting a little lavender or Peace and
Calming on the bottoms of the feet before retiring, to offer a deeper, more restful, night's sleep. Getting enough sleep sure is important, don't you
think?

I swear by Valor. My husband's snoring stopped when we began applying it tothe soles of his feet at bedtime.

I have my husband put Peace & Calming on his earlobes and beneath his nose before bed and he doesn't snore...sometimes it will last 2 - 3 nights beforehe has to reapply. Before this his snoring was so bad I had to wear earplugs to bed! Once in awhile when he is extra tired he will still breath
heavy but it is nothing like the loud snoring it used to be.

I used Thyme on the bottom of the feet for snoring and it worked for us. Isniffed Peppermint to restore smell and I am now able to smell some of the oils. Before I could hardly even smell the Peppermint. Hope this helps.

My husband and cousins husband both use Lavender for snoring and it works
great. I have heard peace and calming works too, but no experience with
that. My Uncle snores terribly, but he broke his nose as a child and it was
never set properly, Lavender and peace and calming did not work for him, but
Valor did. Have a great day.

If Brion wasn't a believer in oils before, he is now--at least with the RC!
It's amazing--For the last three nights we have diffused it next to the bed,
rubbed it on his toes and under his nose (I also sprinkled some on his
pillow under his pillow case)--For the first time in months he hasn't snored
like a freight train, it hasn't been a vibrating noise so unbearable that
I've had to leave the room. I have actually been able to sleep in the same
bed with him . We need to order some more RC quickly, we don't want to run
out and have to go without.

Snoring used to keep me awake until I started giving Peace and Calming to
both my husband (the snorer) and me just before we went to sleep at night.
He seems to be much more able to stay awake during the day now since he has been doing the Peace & Calming at night and using Brain Power in the roof of his mouth during the day.

My husband's snoring used to wake me up at night. I found that putting Valor on my feet and Peace and Calming on my mastoid bones (behind the ears), and having him do the same thing just before we lay down to sleep at night helped us both. My neighbor was complaining about her husband "rattling the rafters" and keeping her awake at night. I suggested she try Valor and Peace and Calming on her and her husband just before going to sleep at night, gave her a small sample to see if it worked. She came back and signed up, saying it was the first restful sleep she'd had in ages. She's still happy with the results two months later. Hope the results are the same for you.

I have been diffusing Peace and Calming at night and it has put an end to my husband's snoring. It is amazing! D. Daniels

When we were at the clinic they recommended colon and liver cleansing for my husband. We also use Peace & Calming or Thyme on his feet under and on top, on the bronchial tube points. His snoring is almost all gone, as well as the apnea. Best of all I get some sleep too. We're so glad we chose this route, the ENT specialist had prescribed lots of drugs that didn't help, and wanted to do expensive surgery that "may or may not help." It's beyond words how happy we are to have this alternative.

What helped and virtually stopped my husband's sleep problems: Valor on the feet at night and a diffuser with Peace and Calming running in the bedroom. At first diffuser ran all night, now it just comes on (with a timer) 4 times a night for 15 minutes at a time.

The oils that have worked best for the people I have shared them with are
Peppermint, Raven, and Oregano.

I suggested he put peppermint on his tongue and under his nose when going to
sleep. He said that this helped him.

My husband has snored all his adult life. During our 16 yr. marriage I have
slept in separate room, run loud fans or white noise and wear the strongest
ear plugs that you can get over the counter that block about 32 decibels. It
only got worse as he has gotten older. I am talking elephant size snoring.
Nothing had ever helped until I ordered Raven. It helped a lot but sometimes
there would be breakthrough snoring sometime during the night. On nights I
could do Vitaflex and Raindrop he would sleep all night peacefully ,
however, you can not do that every day. Then I got RC . HE loved the smell
just as much as Raven. He would apply it under his nose , on the toes, and
on the pillow he hugs. It worked like a charm at first, then he started
having breakthrough snores during the night and would have to reapply to his
nose. We received a diffuser for our birthdays in April and March and
diffuse the RC at night on a timer. It diffuses 7 min out of every 30. So
far this has been the magic bullet. He sleeps like a baby and breaths just
as soft. Two extra benefits we are blessed with are, one: Now even if he
falls asleep on the couch watching TV, he doesn't snore and that is with no
oils going on at all! Two: I love breathing the RC at night, sleep better,
wake up feeling great, no sinus stuffiness, sore eyes or headaches. I had
those quite frequently before. Diffuse RC or Raven at night. You could also
alternate them.
Best to you, Connie E.

I know of a few people who have had great success using R.C. on their chest,
under their nose, and even in their nostrils for snoring. One of my
distributors said her husband used to keep the whole family awake at night
snoring, and this was in a large ranch house with 5 children! These folks
are now in their late sixties. He started using the R.C. and within three
days, the wife called to tell me he was hardly making any noise at night at
all. So she decided to put a little R.C. under her nose 'cuz she said she
'thot it made her sleep better too. I told her I 'thot it was that her
husband was no longer snoring that she could sleep better! I hope this might
helpful. Good Luck!

I had to share that I may have found the answer to my husband's snoring. A
couple of weeks ago I searched the archives and found some testimonials for
what has worked for others for snoring. But these things didn't work for my
husband, or were minimally effective. Peppermint in a glass of water didn't
work. Thyme oil or Valor on the bottom of the feet didn't work. He found
temporary relief gargling with Thieves mouthwash, but the effect wore off
after a couple of hours. But last night he was snoring so bad, as he also
has a bit of a cold and was over-exhausted from work. I put Cypress on his
throat gland area. I did this as I recently heard on a tape to put it over
swollen glands when you are sick. His gland weren't swollen (that I knew
of) but I tried it for the snoring, and it worked wonderfully! He slept so
quietly that I had to wonder if he was still alive! (just kidding) I have
to experiment with this a few more nights, but I'm hoping this is the
answer.

When my husband snores, I get out the oils, none in particular, lately I've
used, chamomile, wintergreen, basil, oregano, and lavender. I mix the oils
with sesame oil and give him a foot massage in the night. He gave me
permission to and usually he doesn't even remember that I did it. It seems
to help him relax and the snoring does gets quieter and sometimes goes away.

What helped with my husband's snoring (high volume & intensity) was THYME oil applied neat (undiluted), a drop worked in, on and around each big toe, at bedtime. I tracked this over a 5 week period. The first week his snoring lessened. The second week it lessened even more so that he sounded like a purring lion. Then it ceased for week three and four. The 5th week we decided to test progress and left off the thyme applications. He was snore-less for the first 3 days and then he started to snore at moderate volume before I could get to sleep. What I did was, get up, grab the thyme bottle and applied the oil to his toes. By the time I returned to my side of the bed the snoring was quieting and soon stopped. We decided to apply thyme when needed (snoring breakthrough) and that has worked out well to date. Susan
P.S. A side affect is the almost complete elimination of a toe nail fungus in the
big toe nail..... due to thyme's wonderful anti-fungal properties among many
others.
